Dr. Iroja Caldera Ph.D. is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Plant Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Colombo. Her area of expertise is on anatomical and physiological responses of plants to environmental changes in the context of climate change. An attorney-at-law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, she also teaches environmental law and has undertaken studies on the implementation of the SDGs. She is a past President of the Institute of Biology Sri Lanka and the President-elect of the Sri Lanka Association for Improving Higher Education Effectiveness. She is currently conducting a study on seed-germination in the vicinity of meditating monks and yogis, at Nissarana Vanaya monastery.
