Sister Isabel Smyth has worked in teacher training for 20 years and been engaged in interfaith work for over 30 years years. As a young nun, she was sent to study at Lancaster University – famous for its multi-faith approach to Religious Education where she obtained both a BA Honours and a master’s degree in religious studies. Through her work with student teachers, and as the founding CEO of the Scottish Interfaith Council, Isabel has dedicated her life to helping people of different faiths find a new way to live together. For the 10 years of its existence, she co-taught the Masters in Interfaith Relations at the Centre for Interfaith Studies at Glasgow University. At present she is the Scottish Catholic Bishops Associate Secretary for Interfaith Relations and secretary to the West of Scotland Council of Christians and Jews.
